"Recognising frugal innovations from and for grassroots required conceiving a trophy that will trigger a conversation about the oddity in human perception and behaviour leading to innovative solutions to the everyday problems around us. The hand in the trophy has six fingers, a feature considered very auspices in many ancient societies. So much so that a person with six finger often could do with one hand, such as typing laces of shies which otherwise required two hands. The people with six fingers were considered lucky and also in some cases belonging to a group of humans known as giants.
Among the Pueblo community living in and around Chaco Canyons, the people with six fingers were respected and given a special place in society. In different parts of the world including Latin America, the belief among some communities is that a God descends every 6000 years ago and has six fingers. May be, a way of spiritual connection with a simple mutation. Waorani tribe has preponderance of people with six fingers in their hands in Ecuador.
Our purpose is not to lend any credence to these beliefs but we wish only to underline that people with six fingers have intrigued human societies for ages.
