Title Million minds augmenting national aspiration and knowledge

Details Western regionGujarat | Rajasthan | Maharashtra | Goa | Dadra and Nagar Haveli | Daman and DiuDepartment of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India is successfully implementing Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) scheme since 2010. The scheme covers students in the age group of 10-32 years and has five components. The first component, INSPIRE-MANAK (Million Minds Augmenting National Aspirations and Knowledge) Awards, aims to motivate students in the age group of 10-15 years and studying in Standard VI to X, to pursue science and a career in research. The INSPIRE – MANAK scheme is being revamped and executed by DST and National Innovation Foundation, India to align it with the action plan for Startup India initiative, launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister. In the interim, it is proposed to sensitise all stakeholders regarding the changes envisaged in the existing scheme. For this, workshops at regional level are being organised for school, district and state functionaries. The first workshop took place during August 22-23, 2016 at Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad for western region, comprising states of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Goa, Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu. The purpose of the scheme is to foster a culture of creative and innovative thinking in school children and involve them in addressing societal needs through science and technology.
