Wu Yulu, a farmer with primary school education, has invented 26 robots since 1978! ‘Wu Laowu’ can bring tea, light cigarettes and do other services for people. The ‘eight-foot robot’ can move freely, the intelligent robot ‘Wu Laosanshisi’ can play chess. Besides, there are others like robotic wolfhound, drawing robot, tractor robot, ink-grinding robot, spraying robot, and a robot, which can jump from a two meter high rack safely. Yulu participated recently in the Shanghai Expo.

Fan uses acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine to cure pigs and has achieved good results. Early Tip Pruning Method of Grapes

This farmer has found an ‘early tip pruning method of grapes’ after several years of experimentation. The inflorescent tips are pruned from April 28 to May 5 of every year, about ten days earlier than the general time of tip pruning. Meanwhile, the method of ‘pruuning winter sprouts in summer’ is adopted to increase the fruit-setting rate and control the tree vigour. Moreover, it is advised farmers should walk backwards when they are spraying insecticide. The direction in which the liquid is sprayed and the position of the shelf should form an angle of 25 degree to make sure the liquid can be sprayed evenly. The grape-bunches cultivated in this way are larger, with fewer uneven grains, and moderate tightness. Each of them weighs about 0.4 to 0.5 kg. Both the shape and the weigh are uniform. The output increases by about 15 per cent.

Intercropping of Pepper and Corn & Double Planting of Corn

Wang Wenzhu has explored scientific planting patterns like intercropping of pepper corn and double planting of corn. The former could increase the income by 1000 Yuan per one Mu (INR 12 per square metre) than planting just corn in the field. However, the invention of floating type equipment for sowing and growing seedlings of tobacco by Li Lusheng, a farmer from Xiangguanfang Village, Lean County, Fuzhou City, has solved this problem successfully. The working efficiency of this equipment is 20 times more than manual sowing. It could save nearly half of the seeds and is very popular amongst tobacco growers.

The gripping type semi-feeding rice threshing machine is made by adding an automatic gripping type feeding device to the threshing machine mentioned above. It has helped change the perception that threshing is an unhygienic and dangerous activity. In 2006, Ao invented a self-propelled rice and wheat swather, greatly improving efficiency.
