The innovator, Hu Runhuan, worked in Hongmei Electric Appliance Plant (a town factory of Dongguan, Guangdong) before 1986. Later, he entered the business of repairing machines like motor, generator and other electrical appliances. Heinvented this machine because he found it was hard to knit straw ropes by hand. The market prospect of this product was also good.
This machine does not need manual feeding of straws. Once turned on, the straws would be sucked into the machine which wove them into ropes. Its output is three times that of manual work. It has the advantages of convenient operation and is less labour intensive.
