Title ‘Arakha’ for wound healing

Abstract The latex was reported to have positive effect on the level of hydroxyproline and other wound healing factors (Saratha et al., 2009: Medicinal Chemistry Research 19 (8): 936-947. The Calotropis gigantea R.Br is reported effective against maggot wound (Ande T, (2001):,NISEB Journal, 1(4). Also see Honey Bee, 9(1):10.

Details Tankadhar applies the latex of a local plant called as ‘Arakha’ (Calotropis gigantea (L.) W.T.Aiton) on the maggot infested wound. The maggots get killed and flies are repelled which aids the woundhealing process. He has treated more than 50 such cases so far.
