Need to give thought to packaging of newsletter |

Vipul Sanghavi, Mumbai, Maharashtra I am thankful to SRISTI for a wonderful newsletter. At the same time, it is very saddening to see it packed in a plastic envelope. We talk about sustainability and plastic cannot go along with our thoughts. You need not bother about aesthetics since this class of readers will appreciate the inner beauty over the outer one. I agree with you. Except in monsoon, when the packets get wet, we must not use plastic. Thanks for your observation. We will take necessary action. -Ed. A 15-year old’s scholarshipMannan, Panna, Madhya PradeshI was part of the 36th Shodhyatra. I am currently working with an organisation called the Janwaar Castle. We find sponsors for education of children. We have also built a skateboarding park in a far-off village near Panna, aiming to develop personality and self-confidence in village children. Also, since the park is a big attraction, it connects the village with the rest of the world. We have volunteers from around the world to teach these kids. A volunteer has promised to sponsor the studies of one kid but I am not sure what will be the best way to plan the child’s future. He is clever and we plan to send him to a school in Panna. But, his family is not so well-off. Yet, we wish to plan his year in a manner that would boost not only his intelligence and knowledge but, also be in line with his interests. If he could be trained in management, he can take over the administration duties at Janwaar in future. But, I am not aware of a school or training centre that may fulfil these needs. Your thoughts on the situation will help us find good opportunities for the child. Great thought, great idea! I think it would be best to sponsor coaching for him. Private coaching for him in studies and enterprise management would be of help. He may then give exams and simultaneously manage the park. All the best and good luck. We will be happy to have him with us for a few days, just to assure him that we care about him and his community. He can stay with us. –Ed.Looking to become a part of the Honey Bee NetworkSarabjeet Bhatia, Ahmedabad, GujaratI moved to Ahmedabad four months back. Being a biotechnology graduate, I have keen interest in various fields of life science, particularly environmental protection and sustainability. Other interests include social entrepreneurship, education and the likes. I would thus like to contribute to HBN and SRISTI. Welcome to the Honey Bee Network. We will send you a complimentary copy of our newsletter. You may help us look for grassroots innovators, outstanding traditional knowledgeholders and/or organise idea contests for children in government schools. -Ed.Wish to become a part of HBNIshu Singhal, ishu810@live.com I have recently gone through the efforts made by SRISTI to make this world a better place. I am very impressed by the same and am looking forward for an opportunity to become a part of the Network. We always welcome people who believe in the honey bee philosophy. All the best. - Ed.A film on shodhyatraNicolò Natali, niccolo.natali@delab.itI would like to know a little more regarding the next shodhyatra, likely to happen in December this year. I’m a documentary filmmaker and would love to shoot your walk and make a film on the subject. You are most welcome. Our next shodhyatra is scheduled during May 11-17 in Goa. Please visit sristi.org for more information. The following yatra would be in Nagaland but the dates have not been fixed yet. You may join us whenever it suits you. -Ed.SRISTI-BITS collaborationDivya Sinha, Pilani, HyderabadI am from BITS Hyderabad and would like to propose an association between SRISTI and BITS Hyderabad. With its vast network and experience, it can help us contribute for the great cause. Thanks for reaching out. Techpedia hosts very impressive set of unique technical project reports and is only such database, catering to the need of a one-point source for capturing innovations by young minds. I would request you to introduce this to your institute and encourage you to become our brand ambassador for Techpedia. -Ed.Requesting your attention towards NabarangpurShanmuga Patro, Nabarangpur, Odisha I am a lawyer and corporate consultant based in Nabarangpur, Odisha. Our district has been named District Zero by The Indian Express. One of my proactive interests is thinking about and working towards the betterment of my district. With support and wishes of friends, I started an initiative called Govindalaya here. All our plans aim at creating positivity and possibilities in our areas of operation which include agricultural interventions, computer literacy promotion, health emergency response systems and promotion of scientific thoughts among children. I request you to consider organising a ground study in Nabarangpur to figure out low-cost technologies that can be implemented in such a place. Govindalaya would arrange funding for such an exercise. Thanks for reaching out. We have been reading reports of Indian Express and appreciate your concern for your district. I also appreciate your proposal to fund the study. We will plan for the same. - Ed. |
