Title Low cost honey extractor

Abstract The Hand Crank Honey Extractor used by Novella Carpenter consists of a metal carriage or frame inside in which frames are slid, each side of a frame having honeycomb. It operates purely by human power (http://www.kk.org/cooltools/archives/001692.php).

Details Manoj is a traditional apiculturist. He always faced difficulties in extracting honey and sometimes honeycombs got damaged too. He developed a low cost honey extractor using water can and ball bearings. The mechanism consists of a gauge sheet in which the combs are kept. This sheet is placed inside the water can which is hung freely upside down. The strings attached to the can are connected to a ball bearing as a result of which, the can rotates freely at a high speed. This way, maximum honey is extracted from the comb without causing any damage to the combs. It costs Rs. 200. The honey extractor available in the market costs Rs.1500. The innovator claims that his device is efficient and causes no damage to the honey combs.
