Abstract Calotropis gigantea has insecticidal property (Rao DS. (1957); Div Entomology Dept. Agr. Mysore, State Bangalore Karnataka, India. Econ Bot 11, 274) Vitex negundo has insect repellant property (Singh YN (1986); J.Ethnapharmacol 15(1): 57-88). Also see HB 11(3):6, 2000.
 
Details Young farmers Nageswari and Jessy Babiola are students. They reported the use of the mixture of the plant extracts of Calotropis gigantea R. Br.,Vitex negundo L. with Metarrhizium anisphilae (Metch.) Sorokin fungi to control the pest eryophyid mite on coconut trees. They claim that the herbal pesticide is more effective than the commercially available pesticide for the same purpose.
