Control of Brinjal Fruit Bores |

Details |
Navneetha Krishnan observed that whenever brinjal was reduced as a mono crop in his garden, there were incidences of fruit borer, which led to considerable loss to the crop. Once he noticed that some plants grown in a nearby plot of cotton were not at all affected. He found that by growing cotton along with brinjal it escaped the fruit borer attack. He claims that nowadays he maintains one cotton plant for every 100 brinjal plants and this is the optimum level he has developed.
The use of cotton as trap crop, along with single spray of dimethoate 0.03 percent at 15 days after germination of green ram controls white flies (11.83/10 plants) as well as yellow mosaic virus (7.81 percent) effectively.
