Details |
“Wahra” is a type of skin disease in cattle. To treat this, Dharmendra Pratap uses Amarbel (Cuscuta reflexa L.). He grinds the herb and boils it to get concoction which he applies on the affected part and covers it with a clean cloth.
The methanol extracts of Cuscuta reflexa stem is known to exhibit a broad spectrum of antibacterial activity (Pal, D. K.; Mandal, M.; Senthilkumar, G. P. and Padhiari, A. (2006): Antibacterial Activity of Cuscuta reflexa Stem and Corchorus olitorius Seed, Fitoterapia, 77(7-8):589-91). Its aqueous extract is also reported to have highly significant virus inhibiting property (Awasthi, L. P. (1981): The Purification and Nature of an Antiviral Protein from Cuscuta reflexa Plants, Arch Virol., 70(3):215-23). |
