"Aditi Mali, founder of Mali Greens, integrated urban planning with sustainable food systems. She holds an MSc Degree from the Royal Agricultural University, UK. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she realized that accessibility to locally produced, fresh, and nutritious food with long shelf life was vital. She researched that microgreens offer up to 40 times more nutrients per gram than vegetables. Microgreens have an intense flavor and substantial nutrients like potassium and zinc. She aims to make this a 21st-century staple superfood.
In 2021, Mali Greens an urban farm and consultancy service was established. She has developed a high-tech chemical-free microgreens urban vertical farming concept. Here, more than 20+ varieties of microgreens are grown indoors. Along with this, they also conduct workshops and provides consultancy to commercial entities. Initially, Aditi experimented with homegrown microgreens. Next, she resolved the complexities of year-round cultivation and quality. They developed in-house logistics management systems and software for prompt and cost-effective area-wise deliveries.
Mali Greens workforce comprises of 80 per cent women whom they call as “The Microgreen Queens”. They promptly deliver and thus optimally preserve flavour and nutritional value. This attracts customers to pay a premium price. Aditi’s team explores new technologies for higher quality standards. They plan to expand nationwide
Aditi received the Young Development Agriculturist 2021 (Overseas) Award from the Tropical Agriculture Association (TAA Org) in the U.K. They were commended by the Gujarat Minister of Agriculture in 2023.
Mali Greens, has been participating in Sattvik Traditional Food Festival, organized by SRISTI for last few years. They have used this platform with many attendees to share knowledge about microgreens.
