Title Anti tick herbal formulation for cattle

Abstract Peel oil from citrus fruits can be directly applied to control the cattle ticks, especially Boophilus microplus, proving its acaricidal property (Narong and Weerapol, 1996. J. Nat. Sci. 30: 112-117). Citrus reticulata, also called as Mandarin has insecticidal activity against femal Pediculus humanus capitis, (Yang Y.C., Lee H. S., Clark J.M. and Ahn Y. J., 2004. J. Med. Entomol.; 41(4): 699-704).

Details The tribals use a plant locally known as kamala (mandarin: Citrus reticulata blanco) for effective control of ticks in cattle. They extract juice of fresh leaves of orange. This juice is stored in an earthen pot for two days and then applied on the body of the affected animal and left as such for two days. After that, the animal is bathed thoroughly. This kills and controls the ticks.
