Mr. Abdul Razzack (37) of Madurai district and has studied up to 7th standard. He earns his livelihood by repairing house hold articles such as fan, electric motor, iron box etc. He has designed a two-in-one cooking vessel in August 2006 and also applied for a patent for it. Water is filled in one portion of cooker according to the quantity of rice taken. Rasam, Sambhar etc., can be prepared in the other portion of the cooker.
The time required to cook rice and sambar (Dal) is 1.15 hrs using an ordinary cooker but it is only about 50 minutes in the two-in-one cooker. There is a saving in the fuel cost by using two-in-one cooker as compared to the ordinary cooker. There is a need to tilt the ordinary cooker while draining the excess water but there is a provision in the two-in-one cooker to drain out water from boiled rice so that the cooking vessel need not be tilted to filter out excess water. |
