Sugarcane to treat diarrhea
Mr Kalia Sahu of Orissa is an octogenarian who has conducted many experiments in animal husbandry. He takes preventive measures for his cattle against diarrhea by mixing 100 gm of raw turmeric paste and 100 gm of 3 years old sugarcane molasses. The mixture is then fed to the animal, once a day for 7 days. This prevents viral diarrhea.
Turmeric is well reported for curing diarrhea (Deka et al., 1983). Feeding of molasses provides the necessary energy and ions for overcoming diarrhea in animals.
