To provide relief in backache, add powdered seeds of ‘Jeera’ (Cuminum cyminum L) in four cups of water. Add a small amount of jaggery and ghee in to and boil it till it reduces to 1/4th of the original quantity and serve to the patient.
Cumin is a pain killer, antispasmodic, and has been used externally as a poultice to relieve stitch and pains in the side. (http://www.pfaf.org/database/plants.php?Cuminum+cyminum).
