Bunchy top disease in banana is caused by a plant pathogenic virus known as Banana Bunchy Top Virus (BBTV). The leaves of the affected plant become bunched, narrow, have yellowed fringes, and also become stiff and upright. Mr George of Kerala suggests the use of fried fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum) seeds in the pit to prevent the bunchy top disease of banana
Bunchy top is a viral disease. Fenugreek has anti-inflammatory, anti hypoglasmic, anthelmintic, antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral activities and it also has insect repellent activities.
