Title Treating parasite infestation in cows

Details Mr A Y Ajesh of Kerala uses a herb “Panicoorka” (Clerodendrum phlomidis L.f.) to destroy mites and ticks on his cattle. His cattle’s health was deteriorating because of the unhygienic condition of the place where it was tied. Chemical insecticides failed to provide permanent relief as the parasites would return in some time. Since cows also tend to lick their skin, chemical pesticides would often reach their stomach, and damage their health. He happened to observe a herb growing luxuriantly in his courtyard. He crushed the leaves of this plant, mixed it with soap water, and rubbed the mixture on his cows. He observed that the resulting herbal insecticide provide his cow immediate relief, and the parasites did not return even after a month. Clerodendrum phlomidis leaf extract is well known for its insecticidal properties (scai.nif.org.in/activities/pdf/Summary_Jabubhai_final.pdf) (http://www.sristi.org/hb_magazine/pdf/11(2)HBAPR-JUN2000.pdf)
