| Details |
Bloat in animals occurs as a result of consuming termites along with fodder. The affected animal salivates excessively, refuses to drink water, and tends to lie on one side. Death follows if the situation is not treated properly. Mr Lalujbhai Vasava of Gujarat soaks 300g of leaves of Tree of Heaven (Ailanthus excelsa Roxb.) in water, and serves it to the affected animal.
(The plant has been suggested to have an effective role in mitigating bloat either through muscular properties or through maintenance of appropriate environment in the rumen: Ed.)
