|
Details |
In order to prevent malaria, a farmer, Mr Jaga Patel of Orissa prepares a herbal concoction from the leaves of Indian Echinacea (Andrographis paniculata Burm.f. Nees), leaves of Night Jasmine (Nyctanthes arbor-tristis L), leaves and stems of Ixora (Ixora undulata Roxb.), bark of Neem (Azadirachta indica A. Juss.), and roots and stems of Yellow-Berried Nightshade (Solanum xanthocarpum Schrad. & Wendl.). He boils 200 grams of each with water in an earthen pot and then cools the preparation. He drinks one glass of the tonic every morning after brushing his teeth on an empty stomach for fifteen days. This prevents malaria for at least one year.
Andrographis paniculata, Nyctanthes arbor-tristis, Azadirachta indica, and Solanum xanthocarpum are reported for treating malaria.
