Title Fan Clamp

Details I often find it very difficult to clean fans because the wings keep moving when we try to brush and dust them. Unless one goes up on a chair or ladder and holds it with one hand, the cleaning is impossible. This makes the cleaning process rather irritating and tiresome. I think a clamp with a long handle and a lever at one end of the handle would really help in holding the wings of a fan while cleaning. The lever can be operated with one hand while using a brush with the other, one can conveniently dust off the wings (Unni suggests that why not clean both sides at the same time by using a holder kind of brush; Indeed, keep it up,Unni, Ed). Asenla Chuba, 2002 Lunch Accounts on Internet Easy and fast delivery of lunch for working executives: This could be a modified and sophisticated version of present Tiffin Service in Bombay. Open up various branches of food joint in any large city and take orders through internet- website. The executives can choose from the daily menu and order the food of their liking. The nearest branch of the food joint would deliver the food within 15 minutes. This would save time and hassle of preparing food in the morning and taking it along, especially since there is a trend towards more and more working couples. The executives could have their own accounts with these food joints where the daily expenses could be settled and preference for food would be stated. Over a period of time this service might be customized where the customers might not have to place the order at all but the food joint would send lunch on their own based on past preferences. Mayuri Bharakhya, 2001 Heat Converting Generator Electrical equipments like air-conditioners, refrigerators etc., emit a lot of heat to the surroundings while working. If somehow this heat energy could be tapped and used for domestic heating applications, then it might result in saving a lot of energy. The role of energy generation might not be sufficient for high power applications but it might still be used for equipments like food warmer. It can probably be used for higher energy per unit time applications if we devise some method of storing this energy. If a method of storing energy can be developed, that may also be used for applications like storing energy generator by solar cookers making them much more useful. ( Mr Raman, had suggested using the heat generated by compressor in a refrigerator for keeping the food warm in an idea workshop organized in IIT Mumbai, 2003: Ed). Amit Sharma, 2005 Jack for Two Wheelers I have observed how cumbersome it is for a single person traveling on a two wheeler to change the vehicle’s punctured rear tyre. Hence I propose a set of two stands enabling the rear tyre to lift above the ground. Of the two stands, the shorter one will be placed near the present location of the stand. The second one, a longer one will be fixed at the back of the rear seat. This longer stand can be folded. Putting both the stands down, one can remove the weight of the two wheeler from the rear tyre, making it easier for the driver to change the wheel. Both the stands will be on one side of the vehicle. Nishit Bhatia, 2002 Violin Mute I play the violin in my leisure time, I find that whenever I practice, even if it is in the privacy of my own room, the sound disturbs people around who are trying to either study or sleep. I would like to invent some kind of a mute made of rubber or wood which would fit over the strings and absorb some of the sound and reduce the inconvenience to other people without reducing the quality of performance of the violin. The way I play, this would be a useful product for me and Utopia for everyone else. Sainath Ramanathan, 2001 Improved Wheel Chair People using a wheel chair often find it difficult when they have to drive their wheel chair on different heights. A possible solution in the form of automatic elevation of a wheel-chair would help differently able people much. The system should be so fabricated that the person himself could raise the wheel chair while seated in it. This would help them especially while getting into a bus, a train or an ambulance. Steps: a) Keep the wheel-chair on the platform, b) the platform can be elevated using an electric motor, with a press-switch to activate, c) the platform moves up or down along two guided rails, and d) then the attendant pushes the wheel-chair inside In step 2, the platform is pulled up using ropes wound around pulleys that are activated and run by a motor. This can be used for other heavy weight objects. Aditya Chilukuri, 2001
