For animals not taking feed properly and behaving in a dull manner, he takes handful of each of Aduthinnapalai (Aristolochia bracteolata L.), Nilavarai (Cassia angustifolia Vahl.), Avaranthalai (Cassia auriculata L.) leaves, grinds well and administers orally.
Aduthinnapalai (Aristolochia bracteolata) is reported for curing anorexic properties (Rao, M. L. S; Varma, Y. N. and Vijay Kumar (2008): Ethno veterinary medicinal plants of the catchments areas of river Papagni in the chittoor and Ananthapur districts of Andhra Pradesh, India, Ethnobotanical leaflets, 12: 217-226). Nilavarai (Cassia angustifolia) is widely used in Ayurveda for curing indigestion and constipation. Avaranthalai (Cassia auriculata) is reported to cure constipation (Chhabra, S. C.; Mahunnah, R. L. A; Mishiu, E. N. (1987): Plants Used In Traditional Medicine in Eastern Tanzania.I.Pteridophytes and Aloe vera is reported to act as an emmenagogue (Saha, J. C.; Savini, E. C.; Kasinathan, S. (1961): Ecbolic Properties Of Indian Medicinal Plants, Part 1, Indian Journal of Medical Research, 49:130-151). Emmenagogues are substances which have the ability to provoke menstruation. |
