This polluted air affects our respiratory system and overall health. According to WHO, “The health effects of air pollution are serious - one-third of the world deaths from stroke, lung cancer, and heart disease are due to air pollution”. Shudhvayu has invented a solution. Technology: Shudhvayu Air Purifier is an air-filter equipped with 3-stage filtration and 5 different pore size fiber and dust filtration foam layers that capture carbon particles PM 2.5 and PM 10 from the air when mounted on moving vehicles. Shudhvayu air-purifier has Pre-filter and HEPA filter, the Pre- filter has the capability to capture particulate pollutants of more than >10 microns and the HEPA filter has the capability to filter up to 0.3 microns Societal Impact: It works automatically with Air with moving vehicles without depending on any artificial power source. The Air-purifier filter is User-friendly anyone can install this filter in less than 60 seconds. The device is completely detachable, the user can easily remove this filter. If this air filter is installed on all the vehicles, including cars, buses in Delhi/ NCR, the air of Delhi / NCR can be cleaned in a day. Va ni t a P ra s ad Problem Addressed: Food, water, and energy scarcity is a global issue, especially for India due to the burgeoning population and limited resource availability (17% of the global p o p u l a t i o n against only 4% of freshwater availability). 70% of our sewage and 40% of industrial effluent remain untreated and are discharged into freshwater bodies, worsening the situation. We also generate about 20 million Tonnes of organic waste per year. Combined this waste, as a resource, has the potential to generate enough energy to supplement our energy needs. Technology: We developed an ingenuous product, the Granulated Sludge (a microflora of carefully chosen and embedded Anaerobic Bacteria), an innovation which will not only eliminate the dependency of importing such biomass from foreign shores but will also act as a very cost-effective solution for High rate Anaerobic Digesters for its commissioning as well as work as medicine for many sick units of STPs & ETPs based on Anaerobic Technology. The technology and system is designed for a large capacity to control pollution at hotspots like solid waste dump yards. The system can also be modular to be brought closer to people to reduce exposure without constraints of space & land. Societal Impact: Controlling air pollution at hotspots & reducing harmful exposure in most efficient & sustainable manner. Air pollution is now restricting people mobility, reducing farm production and impacting Solar PV productivity apart from health. The impact is now a significant % of cost to India’s GDP. Technology: We provide passive cooling solutions through our proprietary ‘Phase Change Materials’ over a wide range of temperatures from +30 to -24 degree centigrade. With such solutions, we enable clients to use any logistics service to transport perishables. Societal Impact: Our solutions cut down carbon emissions by 40% as compared to refrigerated trucks. With our cost-effective solutions, we have impacted more than 5000 farmers, wherein we have helped them to store unsold produce with our portable cold storage, thereby increasing their income by 20% over the past 1 year. Societal Impact: Sea6 Energy engages with the coastal communities to procure the seaweed biomass, thereby generating local income sources. The agricultural products from seaweed directly contribute to increasing farmers’ income and sustainable farming practices. The biodegradable materials being developed from seaweed would contribute toward reducing plastic pollution. Also, a variety of factors, including aging plantations, deteriorating soil health, waterlogging, rising pests, etc., have an impact on tea production. An unhealthy plant’s chlorophyll content and structure would differ from a healthy plant’s, which has an impact on the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) signatures. Technology: Our technology makes use of Precision Agriculture’s drone-based multispectral mapping and localization technique to solve the issue. This technique aids in locating sick plants and starts targeted fertilizer application. The Tea estate’s multispectral map is created, and stressed plants are precisely identified using geotagging and Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) studies. To ensure the optimal use of fertilizers and pesticides, these locations were chosen as spraying reference points. Societal Impact: Spraying pesticides results in several health risks, including cancer, asthma, hypersensitivity, and brain tumours. The other key issues are the challenges with workforce use, spraying costs, and time consumption. In order to solve the issues, precision agriculture techniques utilizing drones equipped with multispectral cameras look promising. According to studies, drone-led precision farming can increase yield by 30-100% while reducing input costs by 18-20% in India. Current Status: With the development of the Drone & the Algorithm, we are currently using drone-based soil and plant health analysis for precision agriculture in the tea gardens in a phase-wise manner to find sick plants and begin targeted fertilizer treatment. As a result, the rampaging Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) is leading to one death every 45th seconds. Technology: RAMJA Genosensor is the world’s first company that is providing an ultra-fast, rapid, easy, and cost-effective solution: a novel paper-based electrochemical sensor device that can detect any infection and antimicrobial resistance in just 90 minutes. Our device is sensitive, specific, portable, user-friendly, and will reduce the antimicrobial resistance rate while saving patients’ lives and the economic burden of customers and consumers (by up to 95%). It can be used in a small room with just a technician’s help (No trained staff required). Societal Impact: Antimicrobial Resistance is a global threat, with 7,00,000 deaths worldwide due to antibiotic resistant infections. It is estimated to be increased by 10 million in 2050 if AMR remains unchecked due to the lack of quicker & proper testing tools. So A gene-specific paper-based sensor, which can give results in just 90 minutes of infection and AMR, could be a blessing for Global health. Current Status: This technology is at TLR-7 stage; Received an Indian patent, US Patent, Manufacturing license, & ISSO-13485 is currently under process. Received approvals from the Health ministry as a top-5 medical device innovation (14th Oct 2022). Ready with two panels to launch (Critical care and UTI), while another panel (against fungus) is under R&D. Solely, aqua-feed shares 40-60% of the expense in the fish farming industry that still relies on a large amount of dead fishmeal and fish oil. Currently, utilized fishmeal and fish oil-based aqua feed materials are costly, low quality, offer no disease protection, and also lead to marine ecological imbalance due to excessive harvest of small pelagic fishes. Thus, there is a clear need for alternative and sustainable balanced aqua-feeds. Technology: This is the first-ever vegan product that is used as an immuno-booster and productivity enhancer for global commercial fish farming. It employs plant protein/ microflora/ probiotics-based functional aqua-feed formulation/s as an efficient, economical, sustainable, and disease-free alternative to commercially available aqua- feed products Societal Impact: Analysts project that aquaculture feed demands for fish meal and fish oil could outstrip the supply of small forage fish by 2037. Fishmeal & fish oil are ultimately a limited resource and a potential future bottleneck for aquaculture. Besides, fish can not fully digest these ingredients, so they end up in aquaculture wastewater, which can be a serious pollution source and lead to many viral diseases (just like wastewater from cattle or poultry farms). Current Status: Pre-commercialization stage: To develop vegan aqua-feed formulation(s), a few product prototypes were optimized, evaluated under aquarium conditions, and characterized at the BSC BioNEST Bio-Incubator, Haryana. Technology: CLUIX is a deep-tech start-up that aims to monitor and minimize the consumption of undetectable contaminants in drinking water. As part of the Jal Jeevan mission, they received grants and developed portable water quality analysers that can test 8 critical drinking water parameters and share data with the Jal Shakti Ministry’s Water Quality Monitoring and Surveillance System. Testable parameters include turbidity, pH, free residual chlorine, hardness, Pt/Co Units, total dissolved solids, electrical conductivity, and Lead in drinking water as per IS 10500. The device features a rechargeable battery, Wi-fi & Bluetooth connectivity, and a capacitive touch screen for a user-friendly experience. Societal Impact: 1. Helping Indian households access quality drinking water from their tap connection. 2. Technology will help greatly reduce mortality due to water born diseases in rural areas. 3. Continuous monitoring will ensure quick remedial action in any region by the Govt. (if required due to unforeseen changes in water quality). 3. Low cost of ownership of smart IoT technology for the public and private sectors.
