She then adds salt or sugar for taste but avoids adding sugar when she serves it to people who suffer from diabetes. The powder has 31.41% millet, 20.94% horse gram, 10.48% maize, 5.24% fenugreek, 5.25% each of soya, barley black gram samba wheat and oats and 0.52% almond. 26207 Weight reducer mixMany people resort to crash diets and turn to detox drinks to lose weight. Rajeswari has a recipe that can help in shedding those extra kilos. She powders 2 kg each of soya, barley, foxtail millet, horse gram and oats in a grinder. She adds 5 g of this powder to 500 ml water and heats it for 10 minutes. Salt and sugar are to be added as preferred . Soya (Velasquez, Manuel T., and Sam J. Bhathena, 2007), Barley Liu, Qing, and Huiyuan Yao, 2007; Baik, Byung-Kee, and Steven E. Ullrich, 2008), Foxtail millet (A.Thirumani devi, Sreeja. P, 2013), Horse gram (Bhuvaneshwari et al. 2014) and Oat (WHO/FAO, 2003) are known for their anti-obesity or weight loss property. 26208 Pongal for diabeticsPongal is traditional rice dish of Tamil Nadu. Rajeshwari has developed a Pongal recipe made with 1kg kodo millet (Paspalum scrobiculatum) and 250 gms fenugreek seeds instead of rice. In a pressure cooker, millet and fenugreek seeds are added to 2 litres of water along with salt to taste. Once the cooker lets out a whistle, she puts the stove on simmer to allow the mix to cook slowly. She switches off the stove after the second whistle.Kodo millet (Paspalum scrobiculatum) and Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum – graecum) is known for its anti-diabetic effect (Kiran P, Denni M, M. Daniel 2014, Jain et al., 2010, Sridhar et al 2012 ). 26209 Mothers special kanji mavuFor new mothers, the innovator has shared a nutritional drink, for which 1kg each of Samba wheat, soya, cow pea, horse gram, green gram, black gram, fenugreek, foxtail millet, kodo millet, maize and 50g each of almonds and cashew are ground. A tablespoon of this mixture is added to 500ml water and heated for 10 minutes. Sugar or salt can be added according to taste. This product/recipe contains 9.90% fenugreek seeds, which have been shown to possess oestrogenic activity that disturbs the endometrial lining system and interferes with fetal development (Kassem et al., 2006; Sreeja et al., 2010). Prominent congenital disorders including hydrocephalus, anencephaly, cleft palate and spina bifida were reported among women who consumed fenugreek seeds during pregnancy (Skalli, 2006). Khalki et al. (2010) reported that fenugreek supplementation 1 g/kg/day to pregnant female dogs during gestation period decreased litter size, increase pup mortality, reduced body weight of the pups and led to formation of cleft palate and a bump on head in new-borns. 26210 Sprouted millets Sprouted millets are a powerful source of protein and other nutrition. The innovator grinds sprouted millets like thenai (foxtail millet), kelvaragu (finger millet or ragi) and cumbu (pearl millet or bajra). The flour can also be used to make dosa. The innovator adds a tablespoon of this powder to water and cooks it for 10 minutes. Once cooked, jaggery or milk can be added for taste.
