Title Refrigerator as night watchman

Details Sri Lingaraj Das, aged 51 of village Katara in Cuttack district, is an intelligent electrician. But he has had no formal training since he gave up studies after ninth standard to make a living. At present Sri Das is working as an electrical helper/attendant in a government institute. As he lives in the village and has to travel to the city for work, he returns home late in the night and needs sound sleep. He thought of a device so that strangers, especially thieves, would have the impression that somebody is awake in the house even in the dead of night. He made the necessary connections to his refrigerator’s thermostat device. As the thermostat switches the freezer on and off, depending on the coolness, it automatically switches the attached electric bulb off and on. This way Sri Lingaraj Das could make the electric bulb glow automatically at frequent intervals. Thieves who are known to wait and watch for people to fall fast asleep will keep off such houses where the people seem to be awake and use power every now and then. Das claims this bulb consumes less electricity. Whatever the consumption, it certainly wards off thieves. Now the refrigerator is the night watchman.
