Name AR Ramaraj,

District Virudunagar

Title Higher yield of cotton

Details AR Ramraj has hit upon an innovative way of preventing flower dropping in cotton and increasing the crop yield. Powder one kg tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum) and soak it in three litres water in an earthen pot for three days. Then filter it and add 500 ml neem oil. Mix this with soap. Dilute with water and spray the mixture on the cotton crop. It is sufficient for one acre. The results, i.e., good flower and fruit formation and reduced flower dropping, are apparent within a week. It also controls boll worms. Organic paddy: In Madurai, SEVA farmers mostly grow palsandy (ASD-16) variety of paddy. This yields good quality rice for consumption. The farmers routinely use organic fertilizers and pesticides.
