Title Sound waves control caterpillars
 
Details Farmers pf Avaramgu;a,, Pulvaikarai Villages in kamraj district blow the 'sangu' (conch) to chase away the red hairy caterpillars in groundnut crop.(The 'sangu' is usually used during religious occasions or at the time of funerals to make announcements or to draw attention). Farmers believe that the caterpillars congregate and try to escape from the fourth corner. The caterpillar are collected manually and destroyed.
