Bloat or flatulence is caused by over feeding on green fodder, unripe sorghum, castor leaves etc. It is treated as follows. Crush 200 g flowers of `mahuda' (Madhuca indica) and add 100g jaggery. Pellets made from the mixture are given twice a day to the animal for two days. There is no side-effect to this treatment according to the users. About 25 per cent farmers have been using this practice for the past 20 years in the districts of Bhavnagar and Bharuch. |
